Turtle Kayak Day Trip:
Discover Sea Turtles in Their Natural Habitat
Embark on a thrilling guided kayak adventure and explore the stunning marine life of Samoa! Paddle through crystal-clear waters, encounter giant sea turtles in their natural open-sea environment, and discover untouched mangroves and pristine, deserted beaches. Conclude your day with a delicious late lunch at our scenic kayak base.
When to Join the Turtle Kayak Day Trip:
Our Turtle Kayak Day Trip operates most Fridays and Mondays, from April to mid-October. Please check the available dates below to plan your adventure. (We often have availability on other days of the week – please contact us to check (Min. Numbers apply))
Whether you’re an experienced kayaker or a first-timer, this fully guided tour is perfect for anyone. No prior experience in kayaking or snorkeling is required—just come with a sense of adventure and water confidence!

Trip Highlights
- Guided Tour: Start your day in Lotofaga, where our experienced guides will lead you through an unforgettable kayaking experience.
- Mangrove Exploration: After a brief practice session, paddle through serene, mangrove-lined streams as you venture toward the lagoon.
- Turtle Watching: Reach the lagoon and where peaceful groups (bales) of sea turtles feed on the abundant sea grass. Continue paddling to spot more turtles in their natural habitat.
- Beach Break & Snorkelling: Enjoy a refreshing break on a secluded beach, with opportunities to snorkel directly from your kayak in the tranquil waters.
- Relaxing End: After kayaking, take a dip in a spring-fed pool, then unwind with a delicious late lunch on the balcony of our open fale, offering a stunning view of the village life below.
Your Day Trip Itinerary
8:00am Shuttle Mulifanua to kayak base
Shuttle transfer from Mulifanua Cycle Journeys base (or at a resort enroute) to our destination.
Or meet us at the kayak base in Lotofaga at 9:00am
Practice and safety demonstration
Our knowledgeable guides will give you an outline of the day and run through a safety briefing
Kayak through the mangroves
Kayak down a mangrove lined stream. Along the way you will have time to study the mangrove root system and look out for the many varieties of orchids in this diverse environment.
Paddle and snorkel in the lagoon
Paddle out to the lagoon where we normally find a large bale (group) of turtles feeding on the sea grass. After watching these wonderful creatures you will head to the beach for a snack and rest.
There is often a chance to snorkel from the kayaks.
Enjoy another opportunity to see the turtles in the lagoon before paddling back up the stream.
Lunch and a swim
Kayak back up the stream through the mangroves and arrive back at the kayak base where you will have time to swim in the fresh water, spring fed pool, before enjoying a late lunch on the balcony of the large open fale (looking over village life)
Shuttle back to Mulifanua
Please note if you are not staying at Mulifanua (or at accommodation enroute) you will need to find your own way to and from Lotofaga Village.
Full Package Inclusions
- Shuttle transfer from airport to Mulifanua. (approx. 50mins) If you are staying elsewhere on the island please make your own way to Lotofaga.
- Snacks and lunch. (Please note: drinks are not included and are payable direct)
- Filtered water. Please bring your own re-usable water bottle.
- Kayak – double, Single, Sit-On. Children under 12 years must paddle in a double kayak with an adult. Children 13-16 years will be assessed by the guides on their kayak competency and they will allocate a suitable kayak for use. Party members may be swapped during the trip according to the guides assessment.
- Safety Equipment. Life jackets are supplied and must be worn. Spray decks (if applicable) are supplied.
